Tipping?
I have a couple of questions about tipping. So if you know, please comment.
1.) I got my oil changed today and the place I go to offers a FREE car wash with each oil change. Once they were done, I noticed that people were giving the guys who dryed the cars a tip. I have two problems with that. First of all, there were other people in the back who were washing the cars, and second, it was a FREE car wash. If I have to tip, it does not make it FREE. It was really awkward when I left. The guy followed me to my truck, waiting for a tip. The problem was I paid with a credit card and they did not offer on the receipt for me to put down a tip.
2.) Are you supposed to tip the people at Sonic for bringing you your food? How much do they make an hour?

Sonic employees (at least the ones around this area in Tenn.) make the standard 2.16/hr (or whatever it is now) that TIPPED Employees make.
They’re just like a waiter/waitress at any other restaurant. Normally you’d stay and eat, and their job is to check on you and make sure you have everything you want.
I have asked employees of a local Sonic how they feel about the credit card machines that were recently installed, and I was told that some Sonic restaurants have “tip-enabled” machines, where-as ours are apparently “the cheap ones”.
It just depends on your area, I suppose.
As far as the car wash - you just have to wonder if the tips are being split. That would make it fair, I suppose. And tipping is just that - tipping. If a sign says “Free Car Wash…” then the car-wash is free. Tipping is not mandatory in any case.
