Groceries Online
How cool would it be to have groceries waiting for you when you got home. No going shopping. No messing with crowds. More time to just…..well, do whatever.
I don’t think that they have anything like this in Memphis, and I think that this would go over really well. Plus if you bought the groceries at wholesale and in bulk, then added 20 - 40% and added on a delivery fee of $10-$20, you could really make some money. I guess you would have to put the cold stuff in an insulated cooler with some sort of cold pack or something.
Here are some sites (I am sure there are more):

I think several companies tried that idea (bad: webvan) during the “.com bubble“, but died out mostly afterward.
Although, with a better business plan, and todays knowledge of what might actually work, if a company really got behind it, I bet they could make it succeed. As you are, I’m unaware of anything like that around Memphis, but if anyone else knows of a prospering company that delivers groceries, I’d like to know about it.
EDIT:
Peapod lives on, in select areas.
