How it Should Have Ended?

August 15th, 2007 by Almost George

Not sure how safe this site is, but the two videos I watched (on Youtube) were pretty clean…

How it Should Have Ended - is a site that does cartoon parodies of… well, how most movies probably really should have ended. If I get time, I’ll write more about what I find… unless you know about the site - put something in the comments!

Webcomics

July 2nd, 2007 by Almost George

Our friend Bruce was kind enough to note that we had never linked up any webcomics.

He sent a list of several, all of which I did not take the time to peruse, so I’m sure of the SFW/NSFW status of these links.

Therefore, I will tell you about one I did check out: Dueling Analogs. A pretty funny web comic that deals a lot with video game culture. Some naughty language, including one f-bomb somewhere between today and December 2006, but mostly alright.

I’m going to ask that you post any additions or suggestions to the comments, and I’ll be sure to check them all out, and keep everyone updated.

My personal favorite, that I’ve been reading for quite some time: xkcd. Check it out, now!

Misspelled Sign

April 23rd, 2007 by Almost George

Well, if we aren’t getting traffic from real people we sure are getting a lot of comment spam. Hopefully no one is seeing it. Our filter seems to be doing what it claims.

Something I saw around town was a bit humorous, and I so I thought I would share it here. Please note that I don’t pick on every mistake I see, nor am I here to degrade anyone - but this is funny, and hopefully even the parties involved got a good laugh…

Notice, particularly, that these people will be teaching your children.

[Sorry if the picture is a bit bad - my girlfriend took this picture through the windshield of my car, in the pouring rain. I think it came out quite well.]

Secrets of the Magic 8-Ball - Revealed!

April 23rd, 2007 by Almost George

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen: the deep, dark secrets that lie within the all-knowing oracle (sold at a toy store near you) have been revealed. Most of the secrets anyway.

If this sounds interesting, see the secrets at Hanttula.

Need a lung?

“Dr. Sha looks like any other Asian businessman in his dark blue suit and yellow tie, but he’s actually an eccentric spiritual healer who claims “the Divine” has given him the power to download “soul software” and heal a range of ailments.”

Cardboard Office

March 27th, 2007 by Almost George

I will do this. I will do this to someone. I will do this to someone, some day.

Cardboard office (prank).

It’s almost cool enough to do to myself, just to see what my coworkers would say when they showed up the next day and I pretended to work.

For example:

Cheeseracing

March 27th, 2007 by Almost George

From the vast amount of things that I did not know were on the internet, especially since 1997, comes this seemingly innocent question:

Q: What do you think happens when you throw a slice of processed cheese (without removing the plastic wrapping) onto a lit barbeque?

The plastic melts giving off highly toxic fumes and you are left with a pretty grim cheese/plastic mess welded on to your BBQ, right?

WRONG!

Actually, it seems that the answer is very, very different. Enter Cheeseracing.

I can’t wait to try this.

The University of Nebraska sends the RIAA a Bill

March 26th, 2007 by Almost George

From the Article:

Lately, the RIAA has been on a high-profile campaign to get college students that the RIAA believes have been involved in illegal file trading to settle lawsuits against them at a “discount”. As part of this strategy, the company has tried to enlist universities to help them identify and turn over the names of offending students. But it’s heartening to see that some universities aren’t spinelessly acquiescing to the RIAA’s demands.

If there were any doubt that the university is really irritated by the RIAA’s requests, it has requested that the RIAA pay the university to reimburse its expenses from dealing with this…

Read the rest at TechDirt

UPDATE:
I read over at Consumerist that the school is actually charging them $11 for each complaint received. Of course, the RIAA denied the request:

In response to NU’s request, the RIAA’s Engebretsen said, “It is neither practical nor appropriate for us to entertain a reimbursement request.”

Sharing my good fortune: Actually pulled from a take-out fortune cookie!

You may have seen something like this before, but I’ve never gotten one quite so funny. This, after we had just completely stuffed ourselves.
