Death by Caffiene, and Calculating your Caffeine Intake

March 20th, 2007 by Almost George

I thought I linked this up before, but couldn’t find it…

Energy Fiend has a couple cool tools:

The first one I found was Death by Caffeine, an awesome little online calculator that lets you figure out how much of your favorite drink it would take to kill you, based on body-weight to caffeine intake. Sweet!

Then, more recently, I came across The Caffeine Database (on the same site), which not only lists the caffeine content of most popular beverages, but also has a calculator to let you figure out your daily intake, based on drink/quantity. It’s pretty cool.

Create Your Own Apple Rumor

March 15th, 2007 by Almost George

An article at Apple Gazzette mentioned their ultimate weapon: the Create Your Own Apple Rumor Chart.

From the article:

“You too can be an “inside source” with this amazing new handy dandy Apple Rumor creation tool.

You can use the chart to create top notch and completely trust worthy rumors…”

Enjoy! And if you hit the Digg front page, let us know!

Homemade Balancing One-Wheeled Scooter/Skateboard

March 10th, 2007 by Almost George

I would pay for one of these! (Although I wouldn’t pay what Wal-Mart would ask for it):

A homemade, balancing, one-wheeled scooter / skateboard thingy. Pictures and video available via the link. Check it out!

Destroy websites. Destroy terrible, ugly websites.

March 2nd, 2007 by Almost George

A funny thing happened while I was looking for some absolutely gaudy websites for your viewing pleasure: I found the Destroy Websites toy. Just enter the website you want to trash, select your weapon or method of destruction, sound options, “click” and Go!

It’ll load a screen shot of the website of your choice, and (double) clicking will result in destruction. I tried the nuclear bomb, flamethrower, acid, and a few others, but there are tons. The site seemed pretty intense with the flash and loading and all that jazz, so those on slower computers might not get to fully enjoy the effects of destroying a site with “disco” - but it’s definitely worth a look.

I wonder if there are better implementations of this.

Anyway, now that I’ve given you the power, go find your own ugly websites to trash. Or trash ours. Whatever.

Ah, yes… Wheel of Food… Lunch… [keyword] Maybe…

February 28th, 2007 by Almost George

monk sent this to me - The Wheel of Lunch, by Krazydad, is a Yahoo! Localmashup“.

“Food” is a decent query, but we’ve been playing around to find out what other interesting ‘wheels’ we might be able to create. Any suggestions?

Addicting “Line Game”

February 21st, 2007 by Almost George

Somehow I feel like I’ve already experienced this, some time very early in my life.

The goal is to make it to the green orb.

Use only the arrow keys.

Try it, now.

Beatboxing Flute Player?

February 20th, 2007 by Almost George

My friend told me to look up some Youtube video, entirely different from this feature - but what should I see, when I landed on Youtube, but this video of a beatboxing flute player…?

He gets a bit red in the face and, from the sound of it, could practice his beatboxing a bit more - but the general idea and execution amazed me. There were several videos apparently, but I only watched the one I’m linking to here, as I’m still in the process of finding what I was sent here to see.

I see your cute email, and I raise you 1,500 cats

February 10th, 2007 by Almost George

Of all the cuteness and goofy emails I’ve seen forwarded around (especially in a corporate environment) I have to say that this website beats them all - not in it’s cuteness factor, but simply due to it’s sheer multitude of cat pictures contained in one single-dose web page. It beats them all with a baseball bat. I hate these things.

I guess I should also mention the Cute Overload blog. If you’re into this stuff, they are like Cute-Crack.

I can’t believe I just posted this.

Anagrams and the Megapixel Myth

February 8th, 2007 by Almost George

Since 1997 the Internet Anagram Server has been a play-toy for many internet users. It’s recently gotten a little attention again, so I thought I’d link it up. Try it out, it’s fun!

Speaking of anagrams, Pea Gel Mix… I mean… MegaPixels… have recently taken some heat for being a waste of your money as the deciding factor for when buying a camera. Don MacAskill clears it up a bit on the SmugBlog saying:

“A limited amount of light gets through the lens and hits the sensor in your camera. It’s really quite small. At some point, if you cram more pixels into the same tiny space, those pixels aren’t picking up enough light to be useful. Instead, they’re making your photo noisier and reducing the quality.”

… and giving a link suggestion for finding the right camera.

BellSouth Jessica #444

January 22nd, 2007 by Almost George

With the recent move to my new apartment, I’ve decided to get the $99 bundle from BellSouth to get my phone/tv/internet fix hooked up as quickly as possible. During the ordering process, you can chat live with an online representative. I realized, after multiple sessions, that the rep was always Jessica.

I decided to be the weird guy and pose a couple of questions. Since the chat applet is done in Flash there wasn’t a way to get a decent transcript (if you know how - ‘hit my clip’), you’ll have to suffice with my Screenshot-scroll-Screenshot-scroll style of relaying you the following information:
