AMD Reinventing the x86 Processor?
Another article today from InfoWorld about AMD, and their “reinvention” of the x86 processor.
I’m not a huge processor nerd, and I know a lot of the stats can probably be attributed to hype, and that benchmarks (in all industries) are often inflated, but a few snippets about this new processor caught my eye. One in particular:
“AMD claims that Barcelona’s per-core floating point performance is more than 80 percent faster than the present Opteron.”
This makes me wonder what Intel is planning. Man, new computers are going to be so cool.
